Welcome

Laser technology has been used for detection and analysis of tumor cells and other molecules of diagnostic and therapeutic value. Laser flow cytometry is extensively used for study of cellular proliferation, phenotype and marker expression.

The Indo-US Cytometry workshops were initiated by Dr. Awtar Krishan in collaboration with Dr. Ranbir Sobti and Dr. Arvinder Singh with the express purpose of interfacing Indian researchers with experts in cytometry from abroad. With the collaboration of instrument manufacturers who provide their latest instruments and staff for the workshops, and a growing group of core faculty members, a large number of Indian researchers have been trained in the latest methods of cytometric analysis.

Earlier workshops on different applications of flow cytometry were organized at the following sites:

  • 2001: Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Ranbir Sobti
  • 2002: CCMB, Hyderabad, Dr. Gopal Pande
  • 2003: Regional Research Laboratories, CSIR, Jammu. Dr. Ajit Saxena
  • 2004: Advanced Center for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, Navi Bombay, Dr. Shubha Chiplunkar
  • 2005: Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Ranbir Sobti
  • 2006: Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute, Trivandrum. Dr. Lissy Krishnan
  • 2007: Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, Dr. Uttam Pati
  • 2007: SGPG Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, Dr. Sita Naik
